Relationship

The world is full of religions that promise a path to God based upon good works, ritual or religious observance. The true way to God is completely the opposite from this.

'I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the father but by me'.

The first and most important step towards a relationship with God is to believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, that He died for your sin and is alive today. A relationship with God is based on nothing that we can do, we must put our trust in Jesus.

'I have come that you might have life, and have it to the fullest'.

When you put your trust in Jesus Christ you are justified in the eyes of God and can begin to have a relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit. Far from God being remote and impersonal, you will discover that He is immanent and caring, that He brings peace, liberty and enlightenment even in the most difficult of life's circumstances.

'I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. .....I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid'.

A full relationship in this life with God is not unconditional though. He requires us to let the Holy Spirit change us as we serve him and learn from Him. When we do, we find that there is a whole new world beyond our understanding and that we couldn't ever have imagined without Him.

Footsteps in the sand is a popular short poem, recently covered in a song by Leonna Lewis. It describes the companionship of the Holy Spirit.
